Rear swingout tire carrier from diff suv

I was at the JY last weekend and saw alot of broncos, blazers, etc with rear tire carriers on them. They basically mounted to the rear Quater pannel and just latched in the center of the rear hatch.
Anyone tried implanting one of these? Is there not a good way to reinforce the jeep to handle it?

these bodies arent made fo mounting to even a stock tire carrier that the xjs had were problematic and that is with a stock tire i wouldnt recomend it get a roof rack or a bumper with tire carrier

We don't have room above or below the tail light to do that. Theres the bumper on the bottom and the hatch on the top:

I suppose you could refab the mounts to be flush and mount it to the quarter panel like the factory option ones. But as others have said this has some inherent problems and simply can't support much of a load. I suppose if you really wanted to do it you could open her up and weld some 1/4" plate to the unibody and mount it to that through the quarter panel. But if your gunna go that far, why not just make your own tire carrier?
