Where does the wiring harness for the rear two sound bar speakers disconnect? I'm going to pull the panels off hopefully on Sunday or maybe before but i wanted to know if it had a disconnect on it or not? like a plug basically so i dont have to cut it.
On both my '97 and my '99 the cables to the rear speaker bar (for the second dome light and the two speakers) run up the rear, passenger-side column. The wires run through a connector/wiring harness that's behind the rear-most, passenger-side plastic interior panel (below the rear, passenger-side window).
Unfortunately for me on my '97 and '99 the connectors' layouts aren't the same (I'm trying to move a factory '97 sound bar to the '99) and I'm still hunting for a replacement connector set/wiring harness.

Why not just cut the wires back about 3 inches from the speaker connection. Just did mine and I'll keep the stock speakers and connectors to revert.

If you remove the plastic panel mentioned by the other poster, you will find the connection in the wheel well area. I hooked up a harness I found in the JY to add two speakers to my 99.

What he said. I found mine in a 99 and 01 in the same spot. Its a plug n play deal...I hate cutting unless I have to.

Well...you can, but....
1) its quicker and easier to unplug/plug than it is to cut, strip, solder and insulate the wires
2) you dont have to wonder if you connected them back up "in phase" when you discover they sound like crap afterwards
3) see #1...its the easiest. The plug is already there.
