When offroading, and I hit a bigger bump in the trail you can hear something hitting in the rear. (I wanna think its my shock hitting the bump stops but im not sure) that is my best guess. How do I fix this

I guess it would help yall if I gave you some info on my jeep. Nothing too crazy. Its like when i hit a dip not really a bump, it a bang you hear from the whole rear section. I can be going like 25mph or so.

93 jeep cherokee
-3.5 inch lift or so(bastard pack with bigger springs rancho shocks) previouse owner did all that
-32x11.50 super swampers

Sounds like the shocks are too short and are bottoming out.

If it's not shocks that are too short, could it be axle wrap?

Make sure none of the e break cables are hitting the sway bar or floor pan. Mine did for a while till I could figure out how to make them not do that anymore.

Based on your description I'd say no.

Thats what I was thinking, would I just need to get bigger shocks? If so how big?

Just read up on this, and dosent sound like it. It dosent "hop" and "hop" its just hitting a pot hole and a lound "bang or thud" a noise like that. Kinda hard to explain.

I've been experiencing the exact same thing! I JUST took my truck in this past week to have it remedied. The result of the noise.......................... rear shock bushing was bad on the passenger side rear. Funny, since they've only been installed 2 years. I contacted Quadratec where I'd ordered them, and they were still under warranty. Rubicon sent me an entire replacement shock rather than a bushing. Unfortunately, the shop working on my truck broke off my shock bolt, then tried to weld it back on instead of drilling and tapping the broken bolt. Geniuses, I swear. After I requested they do it correctly, they refunded my money and told me they couldn't do anymore for me and that I should take it to a 4x4 shop. Jackasses........ So, I had it towed to my father-in-law's who helped me lift it initially, and had it fixed correctly. Noise is gone, so I'd suggest checking your shock bushings.

Wow! That makes compleate sence, bad bushing=extra space to move around! I will check that too tomorrow am! Too bad about the shop, I mean seriously they just though theyd take the easy way out and just weld it.. Glad to hear you got it fixed tho!

Yep, hope that's your issue too. Only in the sense that you find it and can get it fixed, not that I hope your bushing is bad, lol...

All better now though. Just had to drill/tap, and put in a size larger bolt just to snug it up tight again. Let us know what you find out, and good luck.
