i dont know about replacing the bench with a bucket, but i am 6'5" and my knees are almost touching the dash with my seat all the way back, so my plan is to ditch the rear seat all together, take out the fronts, buy some nice racing seats from like summit or somethin, and mount them about 6"s farther back on the floor, and my buddy who made one for his fox body mustang is gonna make me a rear seat delete to extend the rear cargo area so i can haul more crap back there, what with all my tools and the 35" spare thats gonna be back there, along with the second battery and a 10" sub mounted in a box and 1000w amp, i need the room, plus when you clear everything out it would provide adequate room for procreation with the females!

i think the best idea is going to be some after market seats like some master craft of something like that then figuring out the mount from there stock seats are going to be a pain to install compared to aftermarket stuff. but it all depends on you fab skill's

Find some seats that mount pretty close to the floor board, so you don lose head room. It would not be cool to have to sit hunched over in the back seat for a day of wheeling, you think the whining is bad now?? I'm 6'5", and I can sit in the back, but I prefer to drive!! LOL!! My biggest problem, is getting in and out through the doors, they are a bit cramped towards the bottom to get long legs through!!

I was going for something similar to what you are talking about, but for only temporary purposes because I've got to haul more than just one passenger from time to time. All I did was pull the passenger seat pad. When you fold down the seat back, it lays flat and there is no pad sticking up to deal with. It works well and gave me plenty of room to pull an VW IRS, a couple Bronco 2 doors, a tire rack, and various other spare parts.

That being said, I'd love to see pics of the rear seat delete when you get it done. Maybe you could mount your subs in the fabricated space and have a cubby or two for misc. tools. Crap. Now you've got me thinking. Hey, I rea on another post that you got your front and rear bumpers for $500 shipped off ebay. Can you post pics and maybe give me the seller's handle?

thanks,
s

I did that in a 95 2 door cherokee just experimenting. I had a set of bucket seats out of a nice sports car. I took the cherokee back seat completely out, cut the sport seat track so that it was flat, then bolted them in. Pretty nice actually, until I needed the cargo space again, then out those seats came. You can do anything you want when you put your mind to it.
