rear seat swap
Has anyone on here ever tried to take out the rear seat and put a set of front seats in the rear? If so let me know what you did and how it turned out. i am thinking of doing this in mine and probably will but i would like to know if anyone else has already tried this.

yes
cargo space doesnt matter as much to me as leg room. i got the cherokee so we could offroad with the family and i figure if i could rig up a set of front seats in the back then we could use the slide to gain legroom for my kids.

well unless you mount the seat on the back cargo deck
the seats won't go any farther back
and if you mount to the cargo deck you will have a head room problem
I not saying its imposable but you would be better of getting a grand Cherokee
they have a little more legroom if I remember correctly

How big are the people sitting in the back? Most that are big enough to care can drive. If they can drive they probably want their own rig. Its an expensive ,visious, cycle.

I'm all about the stock back seat. It provides space for butts the few times when I actually need it and it folds down for that awesome 6 feet of cargo space.

my oldest son is 13 and rapidly approaching 6' 1" (crazy huh) i am 6' and can sit back there just fine but he seems to think there is not enough room. it's either see what we can do about leg room or get some really good ear plugs to drowned out the wining.

6'1" at 13?!?! My goodness. You need to beat him back down to size a little bit. My son is 6'3" at 19 and he tries to take on the old man every once in a while. I did make a smart move, though. I got a smokin deal on an 87 XJ from my younger brother for $400. Now , the boy has his own XJ.

Hell I am 6'4'' and I am able to sit in the back relativly well....but I was thinking of doing this upgrade a well and my thoughts were to level up the storage area under the rear seat so that is is even with the cargo area, take the tracks and mounting brackets out of another jeep cut them down so that you have head room and put them in but I have not done this yet and I don't think that I will since I really don't care how comfortable the people are in the backseat and I always do the driving and I am not sure that it would work out at all.
