I've driven her a few times, short distances, no leaks that i can see yet, was just wondering if i would see immediate negative results or if it would take a while.

start it and let it warm to running temp and check for leaks, if none then drive it around give it some gas here and there, go back home and park it, check for drips. If no drips you are good to go!

Yes i suggested brass because it is softer than steel and you have less of a chance to score your crank up that way. Glad you got it all out and in! Fun and messy jobs!

You would start to see seeping again after just a few miles. But keep and eye on it for the week

if it was gonna leak, it would have started as soon as you started/drove it the first time.

That is if something were not right, so it sounds like you are good to go!

I just did those same two jobs recently. What a pain...I wound up having to loosen several of the rearward bearing caps and have a friend rotate the crank while I tapped the upper half of the RMS out with a punch. After bending 3 brass punches, I got bold and used a steel one. Here's hoping you have no leaks!
