Default rear main fixin'

So my rear main is shot on my '88 and its time to fix her up.

Anyone have any helpful tips before I get my hands dirty this week?

The easiest way of doing it would be nice

Often there are other oil leaks that Look like the rear main seal is leaking, Oil filter adaptor, oil sending unit and valve cover gasket. If you are sure it's the rear main seal look on this thread for a "how to"

Excellent advice. Before jumping on the rear main seal bandwagon, start at the top of the engine and do what DaddyCat suggests. Oil, like other repulsive substances flows downhill.

What's the best way of doing this with out soaking your cap and coil so you don't have to wait 10+ minutes to start your rig again?
