rear leaf spring sag
I have a 2000 xj that has the typical rear sagging leaf springs. I've been searching online about what to do about it. Now I'm confused because I don't know much about suspension systems and lifts.
the vehicle has just under 85k with original shocks and leaf springs. I am thinking it's time for new shocks anyway, so I need to know what I'm getting into. I was thinking about a 2 inch lift, or leaving it stock. I don't really want to go higher because my wife complains it's too high now.
The XJ is used as a second vehicle, and is basically driven on the road, but I'm thinking about going to western NC to Uwharrie nf trails. They have trails that accomodate stock 4x4 vehicles, as well as lifted vehicles.
thanks

You have some options:
1. Buy some 2" leaf packs (I'd go for old man emu)..then get either coils or spacers for the front. And new shocks.
2. Buy replacement oem leafs, and get some extended shackles, and either larger coils or spacers..and shocks.
Don't get add a leaf.
I'd honestly suggest the old man emu leafs, coils or spacers, and jk shocks.

Cheapest route? Blocks, you can get one inch or inch an a half if you think that's what it needs, Rocky Road outfitters sells them in 1/2 in. increments, get STEEL or IRON, not aluminum.
Rocky's are steel.

I replaced my sagging, horribly worn out springs with some HD replacements. They gave me 1.5" of lift. Then I threw some coil spacers up front. And its plenty of lift for me, enough to shove some 33's under it.

His leaves are sagging. Blocks won't help that and will likely make it worse. That is a terrible suggestion.

If your staying stock go on quadratec and get oe leafs and coil springs, with that you can put an add a leaf in later on cause they are brand new springs, as long they are full length. Normally you replace shocks around 50k miles. Look into monroe sensa track shock if you don't want to get to crazy, your local parts store will be helpful with staying stock.

thanks for everyone's input.
I was looking a the old man emu leaf springs on quadratec. they are showing light, medium, and heavy duty 2" leaf springs. which one should i get?
I'm probably going to do spacers up front. How big of a spacer?
and the shocks. JK (wrangler 2007- present)? will they bolt right in? or do I need an adapter?
thanks

I ordered the 2" Old Man Emu leaf packs on my last XJ, rode so nice it was amazing.
if you can, fine some V8 zj coil springs (5.9L) and add an extra coil spring isolator. it will be better than you could imagine.
only easier way to go is to simply make a frankenstein leaf pack from the junk yard. but it may end up way taller than you want / planned

If you get 2 inch leafs I'd imagine you want 2 inch spacers...

thanks for all the input. I'll go with the medium emu's and the 2" spacer.
I think I put sensa-tracs on my wife's trailblazer last year. They seem to ride good.
