Hey, I had my rear hatch hinge bust a nut, so i drilled it out and fixed it. the hatch always clunked around before, and still does. its been getting worse and worse. could the latch mechanism be getting worn out?

 

can you tell what part is clunking whether it is at the hinge or at the latch? did you put bushings in the hinge when you did it?

 

I have opened the latch and wiggled on the hinged and it is not them, it must be something in the latch. is it common for this to happen?

 

Junk yard. New ones about 70 bucks. You could try spraying it down with a lubricant like wd-40, but those things are generally not fixable.

 

Both of ours make noise. I've lubed them until the stuff ran out all over with no resolution. The latches are not adjustable and I believe that they develop play with age and short of replacing the mechanism, it's something that we just have to live with.
