rear end/ rear drive shaft question
I have a 1996 XJ with 4.0 Aisin Trans 4X4 NP231 and have had the rear D35 goe out on me. I ordered another rear end from a salvage yard and it got in today and I pulled the old D35 and started to look at the two.
It seems that they have sent me a 8.25. It the axle tubes are bigger and the housing is 1 13/16" longer than the D35.
My question is will the 8.25 work with the rear driveshaft that I have or do I need to find a driveshaft off of a XJ with a 8.25
I know the 8.25 is better, so I am hoping they didnt screw up on the gear ratio my old one was 3.55
Thanks
