rear end question
Installed an aussie locker on a chrysler 8.25 rear end on a 97 cherokee. With the aussie installed is it supposed to pull the Jeep to left alot when you give it gas? also is the rear end supposed to be tooo hott to touch after driving it a few miles? Just the gear housing is hott. i know it will get hot but too hott to touch i wasn't sure about. Thanks.

as everyone else said no to your original questions.
1. Check and make sure your rear tires are worn pretty even, if one is worn more than the other then they are trying to turn different speeds. No sense in going back to the shop and raising hell only to find out its not their fault.
2. If your tires are worn correctly then proceed back to the shop and raise hell.

another thing that happened today while driving home, i had been driving for about 10 miles now. stopped pulling into my sub division and got on the main drag, put it in low gear and floored it, the rear end popped really loud and it started pulling to the right when i would give it gas, right before i got home it popped again and went back to pulling to the left.....seems like they may have it too tight in there or the aussie is sliding to the left and right.....i dont know... it only pulls to the left when i am gassing it. when coasting it rides straight.

the pulling to left and right. you sure its not out of alignment? a rear locker will let you know when you are out of alignment because both tires will have the power.

it sounds like its only engaging the right axle when power is applied. it would explain the "pull" to the left if only the right tire is getting any power.
I'd pull the cover and take a look.

On dry ground even open diffs have power going out both wheels. Its only when one tire looses grip that all the power goes to one side, but since its the side that has lost grip you don't get the "push" to one side.
Unless I'm miss understanding your use of "pulling to the left". either way My bet would be on one side of the locker not "locking" and all the power going to one wheel.
