Default Rear end clunk

So sometimes when I'm driving over a bump, something behind me will make a pretty loud clunking noise as it passes over the bump. It doesn't always do it, but sometimes it seems to do it a lot after I drive over a dip in the road a little fast, almost as if something gets un-set, and eventually settles back in. I'm not super worried, but I'd at least like to know what it is.

After i lifted mine I have the same clunking sound. I have had a bearing going bad in the rear and it just so happens to be on the same side so I think that might be it.

it could be multiple things. the rear end has a couple of bearings in it that could be worn out. i would think its the differential case bearings cause when those wear out, the case will move and hit the pinion gear. hope that helps you out.

hey just thought id throw this out there. I thought I had that clunk for a while too. It actually ended up being that my hitch is just a little loose in my receiver so when i hit bumps hard it makes a clunking sound. if you have a hitch you may want to check it. could b simple as that.

x2on what XJ96 said maybe shocks but something else worth checking might be the shackle mounts themselves at the front of the leaf springs
