rear drums wearing out fast!!

No I doubt that. I've only been here a few months and the only time I have been on dirt roads in the last year was last night testing the breaks.

when you do put in the new brakes, once they're in, jack up your rear axle. then take and adjust each wheel until when you give them a spin, they slow the doin down to a stop. not so much like jerking to a stop but more slowly slowing it.

Hello, just set up your brakes untill you can hear/feel a very slight drag when turning by hand. Also when you replace the shoes and hardware inspect your wheel cyls to make sure they are free (no rust inside the rubber boots)
