When you start taking the brakes apart, do one side at a time so you have the opposite side to refer to when putting the brakes back together. Please remember that there is a primary shoe (short) and a secondary shoe (long). If you look at the picture that Radi posted, you can clearly see the right side has more brake surface/shoe than the left.

There may be some guys from this forum who live in your area and may be able to help you with your brake problems at little or no labor cost. Youtube has videos that will help. do a search for Cherokee rear brakes. I know the info is here on the forum as far as what size wrenches etc you need for brake jobs both front and back
