Default Rear axle noise

OK so I sold my Cherokee and bought a wrangler 98 Sahara. I'm getting a noise in my rear axle (d35) when driving but is more noticeable when I let off the gas to down shift(5speed). I jacked it up and ran it. It looks to me that my drive shaft going in to my pinion is moving way to much. I'll up let a video to show you. Question is could this be making the sound or something else. No other noises when turning or anything just driving and down shifting........sorry about this being about a wrangler I just need help fast.

Your pinion bearings look like they are shot with that much movement.

Check the pinion nut too. If that is loose I'd think that the bearings and gears are messed up.

With that much movement I would say gears and bearings are going to be needed like said above.

X10^^^^^^ you should be able to get a good for 8.8 and the brackets needed for the TJ rear suspension for less than $400

Junkyard about $200-300 for axle out of a ford explorer 95-99 you get 3.73 gears 31 spline axles and disc brakes and shop around, online companies like Genright and 4wheelparts will have the brackets for around $100

Getting your dana35 rebuilt and regeared will cost you about $200 for the gears and about $125-150 for a master install kit with all the bearingsand shims, but it will still just be a factory dana35 the super35 kit will cost you well over $500 and all of this isn't including labor!!! At $85-$120 an hour depending on the shop you go to.

Good luck :-)
