Default rear axle or differential noises

96 Cherokee 2.5 cylinder 2wd. Sound coming from seems to be the rear diff or somewhere in the rear axle. I don't hear it when I'm driving and everything seems to function normal. When I engage the clutch and start slowing down it sounds like the wheel of fortune clicking away. The slower I go the slower the click is. Also it seems to happen when I turn right alot more than when I turn left. I don't know maybe I'm losing it but does anyone have any ideas what I'm dealing with.

The first thing that comes to my mind would be a worn U-Joint somewhere along the system. There could be an issue with the rear axle itself depending on which axle it actually is and if it's locking or not but that's less likely, they don't go bad too often unless it's the Dana 35.

I would crawl underneath and give things a good shaking down. If there seems to be excessive play anywhere there is a U-Joint that is most likely the issue.
