really? you kiddin,, trunk lifters correct position?
i bought yesterday a pair of lifters for my xj,, since day 1,, i used a broom stick,, not anymore
i instaled them as the old one,, heavy part to the chassis and thin side to the trunk door,, thats the way i found it (actually it has just 1 broken lifter) and thats the way i installed them today, and OMG ,perfect, incredible,, finally i had self support BUT!!!
the trunk door didnt close,, hit with something ,,
the solution i removed the thin plate and the spacer of the PIN where the trunk door locks,. and removedthem and put the pin with out them,, cause was hitting with some metal.
story short .. now the door close good not perfect but can be closed. i think the lifters made some arragment where the door droped a few milimeters but WHY,,
now im watching some photos of XJ and all the lifters has the thicker part to the door and the thin side to the chassis,
for me there is no way can make a difference,, but really,? do i have to change the lifters direction again?
will make a difference?and lift the lock a lil bit?
Some lift struts have a big plastic end caps like the ones below on the cylinder end. Those don't always fit the ball studs on the pillar due to the plastic trim. Some folks just flip them.
