Thanks, and yeah it has been an adventure, but still happy i have done it.

But yeah it is exactly the same when in Neutral as in Park. And as far as plugs and wires and cap and rotor have all been place and are in excellent condition, lol. the only thing i have not changed is the coil itself and honestly i have one out in the garage i need to put on.

I have been doing regular main. to keep this from happening, lol. But i do appreciate the info on the fuel pressure, I will check it asap. all the stores closed now, but now i know....

The family coming back from GA tues. so i need to get my DD fixed so the wife can have the WJ back, lol...

Oh btw, good move on the RUM! since the stores are closed and I ain't going nowhere, I myself is enjoying some RED STAG!, love cherry coke..

Do the 99s even have a normal distributor? My 2001 does not. It has some kind of weird rail that pops over the plugs, I have never seen anything like it before (but I am not very well "traveled" if you will when it comes to different types of engines). The only two that I have experience working on are a Windsor 351 and the good ole 4.0.

I had the same problem with my 98 XJ. After changing out the CPS it still just turned over but wouldn't start. I found that I was getting a weak spark. I changed out the coil and now it runs perfect. I don't know if the 99 has a regular coil or not?

Gotta go to work myself...I snapped this or my 90. The top of the two green wires energizes the starter relay. I leave that (red) jumper there because it doesn't bother me! (it can be touched on the Bat+). I always have the ign ON so I'm not back-feeding something that is not ready for that.

So...if you can jump your relay you can check spark by yourself, Good luck.

Country....so how many CPS units do you currently have?

one that was in originally right? then another one (from what I am reading) that you paid $70.00 for [where did you purchase?], then you said you were/did get another one right?

so....as bunch of guys here have said CPS from Autozone , O'reillys etc are junk most of time......get one from Jeep/Chrysler dealer. bring those others back

but in the meantime, food for thought, your original symptom was it wouldn't start when warm, but would start cold. and THAT was with the original CPS?

did you try putting the original CPS back in and try it? (just askin).

you said you had another coil? try that out tonight when you get done work with original CPS in. see what happens.

best of luck sir, I feel for you!

yeah, you get mixed responses on which is better or liked more. for me i just know that distributor, wires, etc are cheaper than the coil packs...

It makes it a little bit easier in my personal opinion considering there are no wires to get confused, etc. But, that is all the experience I have with it so I can't really say for sure.

Hey there...I should have been more clear. If you wanted to crank it to check spark by yourself, that top green wire on the relay is the one the key energizes. (on my 90).

oohhhh, i see i see... so you just touch it to the battery and start it that way?... yeah If i still can't get much help then i will have to look into that. good idea and thanks.

I used to have a tractor back in GA that i had to use a screw driver or somehting metal to hit the post of the starter to "jump" it off, lol...
