Default Is it really difficult to remove the steering wheel on an '01 XJ??

Need to remove the steering wheel, but looking @ the repair manual, it seems kinda difficult. I also got thrown off with the clock spring. Is there any tips and do's/don'ts??
Thanks in advance for the .

It helps to have a helper when removing the clockspring to pull while you undo the tabs. There are 2 or maybe 3 tabs holding it to the column

Steering wheel is off about a 1/4 turn or so, even after a front end alignment and full steering wheel adjustment, it seems to be that the last owner took off the steering wheel and didn't center it when putting it back on. The steering wheel adjustment sleeve is fully adjusted and the pit man arm is centered, but the steering wheel is still off, which I think the steering wheel is not centered.

i think the shaft at the wheel is splined so it can only go on one way.. IE: it has a single fat spline part in the mix to line it up.

you sure nothing is bent?

My '99 had a keyed spline. It only goes on one way.

x2...After I installed an OEM cruise control kit, the steering wheel only went on one way. It took a little bit of work to get it lined up though.
