Turn crank and push upper out with small flat blade screw driver at same time .

The bearing cap is held in place with dowels. To remove the cap, unscrew the main bearing cap bolts and pull them clear of the block but leave them in the bearing cap. Pinch the two bolts together and rock in the "east-west" direction while pulling down. It'll break free after a few seconds of this.

Or, gentle tapping and I have heard some say you can loosen a few more of them down the line which they say helps sometimes.

I believe only the 99-2001 had the girdle. There is no girdle in your picture. Was there a lot of sludge in the pan? If so you are going to have to work that bearing off. Put a small block of wood on it and tap harder or a nylon hammer. Maybe a brass punch to lightly work around it. It WILL come off. HEAT might help if nothing else does.
