Default RE 3.5 kit questions

so im pretty much convinced that its gonna be about 2340982304983 times better to just save the money and go with the Rubicon Express kit. for being a college kid i dont really have the money and probably shouldnt be spending the money on it, i probably should cheap out and go with Rough Country or something but whatever. So i was trying to find forums on this becuase ive read them before and i didnt want to start another one but i couldnt find any, so, sorry for starting the same thread over.

so my jeep is bone stock, lets say i get the Rubicon Express Super Ride kit with new leafs (my leafs are SHOT). that brings up two questions that i already did some reading on and i have partially answered but i just wanna make sure.

1. Rubicon Express recomends getting an sye, i dont remotely have the money, i barely have enough money for the kit. can i just drop my tc?

2. the kit doesnt come with shocks. i already read using 07-09 JK Rubicon shocks will work, found a set on ebay going up in a few days, the red ones. are these the right shocks to buy?

3. is there anything else i should be looking for? im thinking about getting a steering stabilizer because i get death wobble every once and a while so i figured it wouldnt hurt to redo the balljoints/u joints and that stuff while i have the front end apart.

I had a less expensive brand 3" lift for a year or so before I went to the RE 3.5 with full leaf pack. What a world of difference.

1) You make get by with the TC drop since it looks like you have a pre-'96. They seem to do better with vibes. I actually went around with no drop and no SYE for a few months at first. I did have some vibes, I wouldn't want to drive like that permaenetly, got a SYE and all was well.

2) You will want proper length shocks to get the most out of the kit flex wise, plus it will ride better. Again, you would be ok to use the others as a short term until you can afford the proper ones.

3) on death wobble. Check all parts before you start replacing stuff. Chances are the steering stabalizer in not the cause, everything in the front end could be suspect. Its best to check everything before you start replacing parts at random as that can be expensive.

4) I added one for you. I don't think the lift comes with a track Bar so keep that in mind.

1) ^x2 a TC Drop should be fine, but every jeep is different

2) If the kit comes with shocks, just use them and sell the other because the shocks that are with the kit will fit right.

3) A Steering Stabilizer is only a band aid and won't fix your DW. Check track bar, ball joints, and tires first.

4) Yep no track bar, and the RE kit usually runs big, so you will need one

If you are getting death wobble now, it will be much worse when it is lifted. Something is probably loose. Get a buddy to move the steering back and forth while yo look under the front. See what moves that is not supposed to and address that while you are lifting. Also you can get by with out a SYE IF you keep the angles right between the transfer case and rear differential. You need to buy a angle finder to do this but it will be a good investment. You can run up to 4.5" lift on a stock drive shaft and higher if you substitute a YJ slip yoke.

UPDATE:

1. found a place with free shipping on the RE SR 6025, super pumped, once i make sure i have enough spending money after i buy this, im getting it, and getting a tc drop (id make one, but it'd be easier to just have a bolt on one, and im spending the money as it is, so, whatever)

2. no ones really adressed the shocks problem, like i said ive read up on it on jeepforum.com, im gonna go ahead and get those ones off ebay.

3. as for the trac bar, REs is like $180, RCs is $100, i think. that'll work right?

If the shocks you are talking about are the right length then yes that would be fine.
Any adjustable track bar will work as well. I used the standard RE one for several years before Upgrading to the Iron Rock one.

from what ive read, the 07-09 JK rubicon shocks work best on cherokees with 3"-5" of lift, and since i plan on the rubicon express 3.5" lift, which ive read nets about 4.5" of lift, that sounds pretty right on. just figured it would be a better route than RC8000s or something, and i dont have $300 for REmonotubes or OMEs or bilsteins.

oh yea and good to know on the trac bar, thanks for the info. is iron rock a better trac bar as opposed to a RC or RE one or something?

i had the regular RE track bar which uses the stock bracket. It worked fine, but after a while I was getting a lot of creaking sounds coming from the area of the stock bracket. I would check the bolts for tightness every so often, but even then it felt like something was moving. I wanted to upgrade to one that had a heavier duty bracket. Thats why I upgraded. Everything now is good and tight.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, strikechords...decided to save money in the long haul and go with the 3.5 RE instead of a RC.. are you getting the super flex or super ride?

Where are you purchasing from?

You also may want to check out the bracket for the track bar make sure its not cracked you wont be able to tell by just looking at you will actually have to take it off and inspect it and another way to find out is if your steering wheel turns before your tires if you have any ''play'' in your steering wheel turn that back n forth before the wheels turn with it and look under the front and see whats moving before the tires turn it will tell you whats broken...

check 4x4groupbuy.com, usually have some good deals.

every jeep is different, I ran mine to and from school, which some days was 45 mins each way, with vibes for like 2 months and didn't blow any ujoints. it just wasn't a very comfortable ride. i also ran it with the stock tracbar for a few months without problems. this is on an '01.
