My 96 has started to make a loud rattling noise from the transmission. I checked if there was anything loose around that might be making the sound, but found nothing. It does it in 1st, 2nd, reverse, neutral, and really bad in park(not sure about 3rd and 4th). I was going to buy a used transmission and put it in but i thought i might see if anyone has had the same problem or what your ideas may be. It's a 2wd by the way if you couldnt tell by my user name. Any help is greatly appriciated.

 

Check for loose heat shields, etc.

 

I know you said you checked for loose stuff but just want to cover all the bases. Also if a catalytic converter is going bad they make bad rattling noises also.

Thanks jooman and cruiser. I cant watch the video at work but i will give it a look first thing in the morning. Tried searching but got tired of trying to find someone with the same problem and it not be something loose. Thanks again.
