Hey y'all... I've acquired a savable 1996 4dr auto Magenta Jeep Cherokee. How rare is it? Ive never seen one before and never even knew they existed until now. I can't really find much info on them either. I knew about the turquoise and orange ones... but never Magenta. She's in good shape from the rear seats forward, however her unibody and trunk floor pan need work. I plan on restoring it.

Who has more information on these? What are their rarity? Ive only been able to find pictures of them. A couple guys on Facebook, the "Club XJ" group have them but only a handful. None for sale that I can find- nationwide.

I believe the seller to be out of his mind. Yeah it's really nice and a rare color but it's just paint. It has "minimal rust for the age of the vehicle". And I think the asking price is double the actual value of the vehicle. But it is the owners right to set the price so

I personally do not think color makes a car rare, there is no such thing as a rare XJ imo, only a good one

 

I wouldn't call it "rare", Sellers do that to pump the price up. Rare doesn't always equate to valuable.

I looked into it, it is in fact a factory color. Google, that guys, mine, and another guy on here. Search “Madge the magenta mistress” on here.

 

I have found that having a very distinctive car is not an advantage at all, as cops and nere-do-wells recognise it instantly

My '96 is just plain old white, but you very rarely see another

over here cops "profile" older SUV for "random" breath tests
