I have a 98 xj. 4.0 auto trans. Runs great. every once in a blue moon, when im accelerating, its like a switch is flipped and its like i let off the gas. Just a slight hesitation. Now, been happening like once or twice a day, it runs fine, but will just die. Fires right back up like nothing tho. Anything i should check or should i just order the Crank Position sensor and install it?

I'd be looking at the fuel pressure, then start on ignition diagnosis. coil first.

I did plugs wires cap and rotor less then 2k miles ago. Im just thinking if it was fuel, wouldnt it kinda stumble or run like its running out of fuel? not just either die like i turned the key off?

As soon as the fuel pump stops, the engine does too.
