x2. Sounds very much like the typical CPS symptoms. Had mine replaced doing the same, all good since.

Regarding the JY vs new CPS: like any sensor its more prone to fail when banged around, so just get a new one installed and be done with that for the coming years.

So I rented a code reader today and checked it myself.

I got P0320.

Still thinking its the CPS. About to go have my battery checked though.

Gauge stays below 14 amps at all times. Then drops about two lines or more when secondary fan kicks in and my RPMs drop as well when it kicks in.

Ok Guys! I replaced the CPS. It actually wasn't as hard as i had thought. I even got a pneumatic ratchet up there.

It hasn't stalled yet. and the RPMs seem more stable.
Im hoping this will be the end of it.

either way ill let you know what happens next.

Don't know if anyone cares at this point, but its fixed.

It was the CPS. I've driven almost 200 miles and no stalls.

Thanks again for the advice everyone.

Good to hear. It appeared as the typical CPS symptoms, with replacement being the fix. Now enjoy it (and on to the next issue!)

I know this is an old post. But, my 99 XJ 4.0 has similar symptoms with a failing CPS. Dies while driving, stalls at idle, all random. I have noticed that it only does it when the heat/blower is on inside the cabin. I am figuring it is either CPS or possible vacuum issues. I don't know when the CPS has been replaced so I figured I should do it anyway. But, didn't know if anyone else noticed that it would stall with the blower on.

Thanks,
Chris
