Default random busted hose

I deliver news papers in the mornings for extra cash, after one of the buildings i came out and noticed a hose dangling, I am attaching a photo of it. i have no idea what it is or where it leads, it is behind the front left tire and leads up that is about I can see at the moment. my oil pressure is good, I dont seem to have any shifting problems, and its not coolant. So my question is, anyone have any idea what it is?

Something is wrong under there to be that wet with oil/grease.
Hose resembles a breather tube for front differential. Can you see where it originates from?
What year is your jeep?

the wetness is from a leaky power steering pressure line (just fixed it), and its a 2000 cherokee 4.0

The only hose in that area on my 1996 Xj is the breather tube for front differential. It should connect to another piece of hose that reaches up into engine bay, located near the upper control arm of driver side.
Can confirm if this is correct by following hose. Should attach to top of differential on passenger side.

That is the front diff breather. Should be attached at the firewall near the brake booster. It is just missing the top hat part.

X2 on front differential breather hose. Mine came free via zip tie one day and was also dangling below jeep. I just re zip tied it to a line next to my break booster. No harm done.

X3...When mine came loose it scared the heck out of me. The wrapping on the breather tube frayed and was then grabbed by the spinning front driveshaft. A scary sound to hear at 70 mph on the interstate. Apart from the racket when it was initially torn off, no other damage has happened.

Reattach to the firewall, and clean everything.
It will let you know if you have any other leaks.
