radio replacement
This is just bit of info for anyone intending to replace their radio with a DIN chassis type. I removed my factory radio ( which worked good after I repaired the notorious antenna connection behind the R/H kick panel ), to install a modern radio with a CD player. The radio is a Pioneer, and it fills the space quite nice, sorta like it belongs there !
The rack for the Pioneer just slides into the OEM Jeep rack, which has the tang on the top to support it. The OEM rack is held to the original radio with 4 screws, which makes it easy to remove, and be used for a DIN radio rack.
After I found how good it fit, I clamped in place, and soldered it to the OEM rack in 6 or 7 places.
Connections to the Jeep wiring (OEM connector removed ) were made to the connector pigtail on the Pioneer radio.....soldered, with shrink tube on the connections.
