Default Transmission troubleshooting

My 2007 Laredo (6 cylinder, auto) had this one time (so far) issue. I had started it up after sitting overnight drove about 30 yards pulled into my driveway and let idle. 2 minutes later there was a burping/spurting sound and oil spattered on the driveway (maybe half a cup worth). Later I went to change my plugs, the three on the passenger side were drowned in oil. Turned out to be transmission fluid. Dealer said the vent tube was routed right above the engine and that's the cause of the fluid. There comment was "high pressure recommend filter and fluid service". I've never heard of this happening on a "cold" engine/transmission, would/could a clogged vent tube do that while cold?
Thanks for any input.

I don't know about with a Laredo, but with the aw4's the filter is basically never worth changing in the transmission. However, if it is overfilled, yes - the fluid will come out of the vent tube, which will probably end up all over your engine. Would be worth a flush/fill though, yes. If the filter requires unbolting of the transmission panel and all that, I would recommend requesting them not do that.

Did you check your fluid level? I imagine it's the same as with a 4.0/aw4 - after it's warmed up, in park/idling, check the "hot" level" on your trans dipstick.

Then again, this is the wrong forum for your vehicle. Just saying.

Agreed, check the fluid level first. Yeah, wrong forum, though the same advice applies regardless.
