the radio on my 99 cherokee has stopped working....well, sorta. it wont pick up stations all of a sudden. am or fm. u can hit scan and the dial just rolls and rolls like it cant latch on to station. u can manual tune and nothing just static. checked antenna connection. seems good to me. tape player works and plays music fine. any suggestions?

 

Mine was like this when I first bought it a few months back. The connector under the passenger kickplate wasnt making a good connection. It appeared like it was but there was a spring in there that was forcing it apart. I pulled the spring out, forced it together, then taped it up so it couldn't come apart.

 

I was going to say to check the antenna connection but you said you did that. But, did you check the antenna itself? I had the cable come out of the antenna on another vehicle once. I had a hell of a time finding the problem until I tugged a little on the cable and it kept come out until I ended up with the antenna end in my hand. Just something to check.

 

I did check the antenna. Had to take off the front right quarter panel to do so. Checked out ok. Wasnt aware of kick plate thing. can look for that. I guess that is under the carpet??
