Default Radio

My '87 XJ came with a hole in the dash where the radio should be. I went out and got an old Pioneer P2600 and a sleeve. The sleeve nor the deck fits into the hole, I removed the dash trim panel, now have a much larger hole and no support for the unit. It looks like I might be missing something here, but I'm a Jeep noob, and clueless. Help! What supports the radio behind the trim panel?

If you have JY nearby, best to go there and disassemble the radio mount and purchase the parts you Heep is missing.

Providing that its like my 91 you need to buy a dash install kit. The dash install kit has a plastic face plate with 2 nubs with screw holes on the sides, the face attaches to the stereo sleeve and then the sleeve is attached to the dash via the 2 nubs. If that makes any sense

Also, when you get it, make sure that on the packaging it states that it'll work with your year, 97 and up Cherokee's used a Din and half space whereas earlier Cherokee's used just a Din sized space thus making it smaller than the 97+
