Radiator replace, How to get the Tranny Line back on??

Default Radiator replace, How to get the Tranny Line back on??

I cannot get the lower tranny line back on the new radiator. My SIL had a disconnect tool for getting it off, And it was still a monster to get off.
But now I can't get it back on. It will not go up on the radiator nipple and I have measured the old/new ones to confirm the right size etc. WTF?
Is there a spring in the quickconnect fittings ? I have pushed so hard that I Feared breaking the nipple off in the radiator !

Whats the trick to getting that monster back on? Or is there a chance the connector is broken? Is there a spring inside the connector or how does it work??

If you can use the original metal pipe to hook back in to the fitting than leave it long enough to put a rubber hose on to the old peice than to the new one on new rad with some clamps on each end.The rad has only about 8 - 10 psi. Hope this helps I couldnt get mine either the new fitting was to big.

Thanks Rich,
I thought there was a great deal of pressure at that fitting. Will hose clamps hold it without leaking all the time??

Actullay I did both with rubber hose now that I think of it, that way when I got my exturnal tranny cooler it would be easy to install.

That is what we did with my wife's donor rad. Makes it super easy! Did the swap and fill in about 20 minutes in a store parking lot.

I had the same problem with my radiator and discovered that the new fitting had black paint on the brass end, once I cleaned that off with some sandpaper, it went together fine.

also mine had the oring stuck it the hose sideways it had an oring spacer oring that i had to put on the fitting then slide it on.

If I look in the hose it looks like two O-rings in there. Green ones actually.

I tried everything on the bugger. Finally fixed it with the HACKSAW !!!

now it has a rubber line and 4 clamps...............
