Radiator help!!
Hey guys, im currently lost, so anyways to start ive got a 99 with the 4.0 and started changing out my shot rad. everythings been going good, but theres one line idk how to get off, now under the lower rad. hose theres a metal line comming out, that connects to a rubber line with some connection i havnt had the joy of working with yet, i was wondering how to get that thing off there......so i can begin getting the new unit in.....
if youre not quite sure what connection im talking about its the absolute bottom line on it....if you need a pic lemme know
thanks!

If its the one that I'm thinking of I used a piece of aluminum and wrapped it around the line and pushed it in to the fitting. This was able to pop it out, then I just left it on there in case I needed it in the future.

No its not plastic, and i was trying to get up some pics but my computer isnt cooperating, anyways the fitting im talking about is crimped onto the rubber, and seems like it snaps onto the new few inch long metal tube thats comming out of the radiator.....i just dont want to break this thing...just wouldnt be good lol......ummm idk if its on all the other years but like i said its the bottom thing on the radiator, it goes, (top to bottom) upper rad hose, metal fitting, lower hose, fitting.....all right inline under the rad cap......
idk its drivin me nuts

I just looked at mine. You want to disconnect it where the the smaller diameter metal pipe coming out of your radiator goes into the metal piece that looks like a trumpet mouth piece. Do it y wrapping a small piece of metal around the small dia. metal pipe and pushing into the trumpet looking piece. I had the same problem and it took me a while to figure out. You might have to push pretty hard. Good Luck, hope this helps.

just replaced my rad today as well.
the exterior of the fitting you're talking about is metal but if you look closely at the smaller pipe where it connects you'll notice two plastic clips, just take pliers to bend them together and pull the small line out.
I'm not sure if you can reuse the clip or not, I did'nt take a chance so I bought another for under 5 bucks, expensive little bugger of a clip, but it works fine.
fyi those hoses are for the tranny cooling system.
good luck

If its one of these you just use some Long neck pliers, with an adjustable size. and pinch the 2 long ends of this Radiator Clamp togeather, and magic.. the clamp gets bigger and allows you to move it off the outlet hose to the back of the hose away from the Radiator.

Check this thread out.https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/199...nection-32259/
Also in the thread, look through my album on photobucket, there's a lot of pictures in there.
There are special tools used to get these apart. The biggest thing I found was to get them clean by spraying them with WD40 or whatever...

rad/tranny line
In my opinion this bugle type 4 pin clip is not worth the grief. I replaced the line with transmission hose and 2 ordinary hose clamps. End of problem.
