I'm in the process of pulling some used 4.10 gears out of a TJ front axle, got the carrier out and disassembled, but I cant figure out how to get the pinion gear out. Since i've heard they are torqued to like 500 ft/lbs or something like that, and obviously the gear free spins. Is there some tool that plugs into the yoke that I can buy, if so I cant find one online or should I have cracked this loose while everything was still put together? Any help is appreciated, thanks alot.
prob should have broke it loose first.
Do you have a really large monkey wrench? If so, put it around yoke and tell your friend to hold on tight while you break the pinion nut free.
Good luck

Monkey wrench and a impact gun.
why are you getting TJ gears for a XJ?
unless you have the LP front axle.
EDIT: seen you got a '01.
