Default Radiator filler neck fail.

Hey guys, when i drove home from school today, and turned my truck off, there was steam billowing out from the hood, saw coolant splash on the side of my fender, and a lot of coolant leaking onto my driveway.
I popped the hood and found my cap half on, half off, and my whole engine bay covered in coolant. I cleaned out the airbox of coolant. And gave my hood and fender a spray down for now.
I guess im parking my truck til i can fix the filler neck.

One of the ridges that the cap locks onto is worn out to a point where i can easily pull the cap up when locked.

Why did jeep have to use a plastic filler neck?

At first i was bummed since i just bought the truck a week ago and got a sick deal.

So at first i thought i could fix it somehow.
Then i lost hope and thought id just have to bite the bullet and put a new rad in.

But then i stumbled upon this.

Does anybody thing if i hacksaw the old plastic filler neck off, and attach this with rad hose and pipe clamps and such it would work?

Please let me know if anyone has tried something like this, or if this happened to you, and what you did to fix it.

Thanks.

I'm with 89Laredo on this.

I wouldn't trust a do-hickey like that; more points for failure even if it would work initially, and you still have an old radiator.

Get a new one.

Never buy a radiator from a dealership.

Replacement radiators start at around $80 from many parts stores and go up to around $300, depending on design and materials.

Ok just wondering. You said OEM so I thought you were speaking original Jeep parts. I have checked several places and just over $100 is as cheap as I can find. Just thought I'd ask.

You can buy a direct replacement from just about any parts house. That thing you have pictured is suposed to be bolted on where the t-stat housing goes, but not on a 4.0, it's for a V6 or V8.
