The bearing in the ac compressor mount that the radiator fan pulley is on has seized up on my 97 xj. In looking online the only option I have been able to find in stock is an Omix-ada bearing that fits in but has pretty bad reviews. I saw recommendations for an NSK bearing but after reaching out to a few places it appears to be discontinued and not available. I've looked on the forum for other alternatives with no luck. Would the best recommendation be to just go with the Omix part knowing it may fail prematurely or take my chances with a bracket from a pick-n-pull yard? TIA

You could go either way, or maybe get an entire housing from wreckers AND a spare OMIX ?

If this bearing lets go while the engine is running, say grenade!

I have an idea it is in fact a Ford bearing, maybe water pump

It certainly has different shaft lengths, which have to be trimmed VERY carefully, fore & aft, so the pulley lines up and rear shaft clears...so it is not a direct replacement for the Jeep item

be careful pressing it in, one mistake and you will destroy the new one..I advise heat housing and freeze bearing

I did have trouble getting one, it was on ebay (from Canada), and took one month to get here, but weirdly, when it arrived, seemed to have been locally sourced in Oz

Its critical you measure up the old stuff before disassemble, or you will not know what length to trim front shaft..and that locates pulley..use a hacksaw, not a grinder, dont boil the grease

When the spare part arrives, I put it in my spare XJ..I take trouble and expense to keep it running perfectly, it is 100 VIN off mine, same color
