Default Racing Throttle

My Jeep, 99' Cherokee Sport, has started to experience the throttle going up to 3-4k rpm and it only comes down when I step on the brake. I have cruise control and it seems like the jeep thinks its on, hence why it slows down. Any suggestions as to what could cause this?
Thank you for your help...........

There's a good troubleshooting procedure in this manual and lots of other good stuff.

It cost me a bit go get but it doesn't cost me any to share it.

Cruise servo vacuum control is leaking, stepping on the brake dumps the vacuum and shuts it down until you take your foot off. Pull the vacuum hose to the servo and plug it with a golf tee. If the problem disappears, replace the servo.

karl4x4, You are awesome for offering access to the service manual!!! After working dealership parts for 20 years, I know that by reading the service manual, you are as smart (sometimes smarter) as the dealership mechanics! Thank you, Russ
