In order to do the front axle u joints do I need to take off the wheel hub or just the caliper & disc???

Yep the Hub has to come off.

 

Not sure, but when I did my ball joints I was able to remove the whole hub and axle together after removing rotor. There's three bolts holding the hub onto the nuckle. After removing the bolts, beat on it with an big hammer til it separates. Then you can change the u joints without taking the hub apart.

Caliper, rotor, hub, and then axle.

Hub nut is 36mm.
