Default quick question, please help

i have a 2000 jeep cherokee, yes i take it in the woods, one day on my way home from work, it started stalling out on me, even while on the throttle, i assumed it was losing spark, and it wouldint start at all the next day, i replaced the camshaft sync. and entire coil pack rail, because my friend who's "good" with cars told me that was the problem, both are done, and still nothing, i know nothing about these newer cars, and i bought this jeep for play and winter all your help will be greatly appreciated

Moved to OEM Tech.

I would not biy any parts until you do some actual diagnosis.

Check for fuel pressure at the rail. Check for injector pulse. Check for GOOD spark.

You only need fuel, air, and spark to run. Just gotta figure out what's missing.

Get yourself one of those books about your year jeep at the auto parts store first of all, you need a fuel pressure tester to test at the fuel rail ( the part you put your finger on) second don't listen to your freind cause all he is doing is guessing about sh_t ( don't seem like he's to "good" with jeeps) third any CEL light on?

That should be a lesson to you. Don't just throw parts at a problem unless you have diagnosed and found the part to be defective.

Moat parts stores have them for 'rent' similar to their scanners. They'll usually hook up their tester for free to help you out.

Then you'll have to see if they'll loan it to you. You may have to 'buy' it and get a refund when its returned.

Fuel pressure for xj's 1996 and up I think it is 49 psi on fuel rail constant. Also remember this for future use the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator are part of the fuel pump in the gas tank. This is for 1997 thru 2001, but you can change the fuel filter and regulator without removeing the fuel pump assembley, this is for when they tell you the filter is in the gas tank . Your fsm or any haynes book will show you how to do it, along with hooking up the fuel pressure gauge.( for your info 1996 the whole fuel pump needs to be removed to change fuel pressure regulator)

ok did the pressure, it's around 42, but it says im supposed to check it while idling, i had to crank it to get the gauge to register, but still not starting, so i'm not sure if that changes the PSI

ok, so just checked for spark at the rail, and it's not getting spark, so to me that says electrical now, any thoughts of where an electrical problem could be?
