Default Quick question on header install

Installing my APN header today, got two simple questions: do I need to use anything on the intake/exhaust gasket or just install it dry? I'm using a stock replacement Fel-Pro gasket. Second, should I use anything on the bolts for the intake/exhaust mani? I was thinking a dab of anti-seize in case I ever need to pull them again? I'm reusing my original bolts, they're rusty but came out easily & the threads look good.

Thanks in advance for any help hoping to get this all wrapped up today.

put it on dry, and torque to spec is about it. Some of them you will only be able to torque by feel with a wrench though, cuz you can't get to em with a rachet.

and don't put nothing on them cause you dont want them to loosen up the reason their rustys but came out easily is because the head goes through so many heat cycles they don't really get seized

probably about 6-8 depending on bolts breaking, experience, tool access, etc...

While you have it disconnected, use brass nuts on the downpipe. It'll make life a lot easier if you ever have to disconnect it. Brass doesnt gall on steel...

Might be able to use brass hardware on the header too, but I would check first, as the torque specs are a bit higher, and they get a bit hotter...

Thanks for the help guys. Usmcloves, so far it's not too bad. I was lucky and didn't have any stuck bolts but it looks like the stock manifold was removed once before. I'm about to put the intake back on so I'll update when it's all done.

That's what I did. Can't really increase what the motor inhales without increasing what it exhales. The only thing is with the APN and the 99 intake, I had to clearance the #6 runner and the #6 pipe, just barely. What I did was put them both on, reached up from underneath with a sharpy and marked around where they made contact, and took them back off. Used a dremel to remove a very small amount on the intake manifold, be careful though, you don't want to put a hole in it. And on the header pipe I used a socket and a hammer to put a very slight dent in it. Been running it almost a year now like that.

There was a write up I found on it before I did mine here...

Kinda wish I had got ahold of a '99 intake, the intake has to come off to replace the header anyway so yeah it's a good time to do both. Could also be a good time to do an injector swap or at least replace the o-rings since the fuel rail will be easily accessible as well.

Not sure on your question K-Ski but I'm sure someone will know!

I wish I would have known about this issue a couple weeks ago! I had been running the APN header for a couple of years and I finally decided to install the '99 intake I had laying around about 2 weeks ago. I was getting a bit frustrated with it all since nothing was lining up... I felt silly when I figured out the #6 primary clearance issues, though. A couple of well-placed smacks with a 10-pound sledge and everything went together smoothly with only a very small divot in the pipe.
