Default Quick Question.

Sometimes when i put my jeep in reverse, the lights won't come on for a little bit maybe like 10 seconds then they turn on, sometimes i'd have to wiggle the gear shifter a little bit and they come on, any ideas? 1997 jeep cherokee automatic 4.0.

neutral safety switch?
Can you start it in neutral? There's a write up somewhere here on how to clean it.

Not a welder myself, but do know a few pros. They say "Don't waste your money on anything but Lincoln or Hobart equipment" Period
And I firmly believe, if you don't have the training and experience DIY welding can cause more problems than it solves.

You can pick up a good Lincoln MIG welder for pretty cheap. I have one, think I paid close to $300 for it. It runs off of 110. I just weld with the flux-core wire. I've made all kinds of stuff with that little welder! Get one and just practice, practice, practice. You'll get it down.

Buy a good welder. (Lincoln, Miller, Holbart) Anything other than those are usually junk. Spent some extra cash and be happy.

If you can't (reliably) start the jeep in neutral than it can be a sighn that the switch is out of adjustment or just needs to be cleaned. I was having problems with mine not starting in park until I cleaned it.

As for a welder, I got a Hobart 140 for doing body work. Great little welder that can do some thin stuff. FYI Hobart is built by Miller. It's like their "consumer" line while Miller is the "pro" line.

Here's my next question, when i start the jeep in park it'll take a little while to start maybe 3-5 seconds sometimes, other times it'll start right up, i'll look for the guide and clean it up nice and hope it works, i've noticed it's been taking a little longer each time. Thank you everyone for your input.

Ok, so i've looked at a few builds and noticed some people had CB radios, i actually just ordered one myself, now the big question is, how the heck do i go and set it up? i have a feeling i'll be needing to get a seperate antenna for it, also how would i go around hooking it up?

For the CB you will need to run a hot and a ground, what I did was grounded it to a body screw and ran the hot to the radio fuse, or run the wire to the battery. As for the antenna you can pick them up at RadioShack, depends on where or how you want to mount it, with that said, depending where you mount the antenna you might need to get a longer coax cable, screw the cable to the back of the cb and youre done! If there is a shop around who deals with them, they can tune it for you or help you out to get the most power out of your setup
