Default Quick free flow muffler question

I am looking to replace my OEM muffler with a better flowing one.

I've narrowed it down to Flowmaster (942452) and Magnaflow (15856).

Please note that I am looking only at the muffler, as opposed to the catback systems they bundle and often cost more than the sum of the muffler and tailpipe provided.

My question - is either one (Magnaflow or Flowmaster) better in terms of performance? Warranty? Durability? This is for a 98XJ with 4.0L.

I don't care about the looks of it, nor the sound it makes. Just looking for a good unit better exhaust flow than OEM.

Thanks.

I think you'll get better performance if you replace the stock crush pipe.

Muffs r subjective.....a personal preference thing. Stainless steel is more durable than aluminized steel. Straight-thru design vs baffles/chambers....

No. This isn't a performance part. Well, just like a WAI or TB spacer is. It will sound better, but your not pushing any more air thru, so the free flowing thing is kinda negated.

By crush pipe you mean the pipe piece after the muffler that needs to be nicely mandrel bent, so flow is not choked?

I think he means the "crush" bend after the header. This is known to inhibit and disturb air flow, and I believe that what he is saying is that from a performance standpoint an aftermarket header would do more for you than a muffler.. Correct me if I'm wrong 944.0!

Some people say replacing just that pipe without the crush is beneficial.
