Default Questions

Ive got a np242 t-case, It is stuck in 4wd will not go into 2wd. Ive checked linkage and everthing external is fine. It shifts into 4-low, 4full time and part time and they all work. When I put the lever into 2 it feels fine nothing funny but just still stuck in 4wd. Ive tried all the jeep tricks, reverse, shifting between the two, kicking it out of frustration, nothing works....any Ideas of what I might need.
And also im looking to get a rustys hd track bar, tierod, and dp arm. But why does everyone I talk to hate rustys?

Try holding the stick down into the 2wd slot really hard and let your jeep coast backwards down a hill a little ways till you here a click/pop. always works for me. As for rustys.....i simply dont trust them...not sure why, dont ask

Had the same problem a while back. Linkage from lever to t-case needed to be adjusted.

Put the Jeep in neutral... put the tcase in 2wd.. put it in reverse... drive backwards about 30 foot usually takes care of it... But it almost sounds like the linkage is misadjusted

Rusty's has had some problems with their outsourced parts failing in bad ways... They used to have problems with anything welded....

I have had them stick when they are low on Fluid. When was the last time you checked the fluid. Might be worth your while to take a look!

Get JCR 1-ton steering instead. It is well worth the money.

Well then I think it is time for a T_case flush if you are not sure how to check the fluid level. Picks would be easier to show Let me search write quick.

Ok got it

You fill it by removing fill plug and filling it up till it comes out of the fill hole. use the same fluid you would in your Transmission.

You drain it from the drain plug. Too flush just shoot some fresh tranny through it and try and grab some of the gunk. I don't really know of a flush kit for it though. HTH's
