Question about transmission
Got a question about my trans (aw4). Ever since I got the xj alittle bit ago I have noticed that the trans will shift pretty hard going from P to D or R. It only happens when its up to operating temp. When its started after sitting over night the P to D or R is fine. Is there a possibility theres a transgo kit in it? Or you think the tranny has a problem? The thing shifts great going down the road, as a matter of fact it shifts pretty firm and that is why im wondering if there possibly might be a transgo kit in there to change the shift pressures?
I guess what im asking is, with a transgo kit will it shift from P to D without "feeling" it when the tranny is cold but when its warm it will "clunk" in to D or R? Just wondering if the tranny is about ready to **** the bed.....

i would definatly try to eliminate something simple first. and a shift kit usualy will be more for all gears and you would know it. the guy that taught me how to rebuild loved to put them in 4l60e trans (gm) (replaced the 700r4) (same thing as a 700r4 just electronical controled) (sorry about all the parentheses) for that 1-2 shift to make it feel like the rear tires are going to run over the front.
