Default Question about the different lockers

Ok I have a question about the different types of lockers. I found some air lockers, electric lockers, and full time lockers. The air and electric lockers were over $700 a piece!!! I really don't wanna spend that!!! I'm looking at the full time lockers seeing as how they 1/2 the price. I don't have a problem with my XJ being positive traction all the time cuz yes it's my dd but I have a company car. I maybe put 5,000 miles a year on it. Do yall think it would be ok to run full time locked? And no I don't really wanna weld the spider gears. I'm looking at the cheap way out but I don't see that as being trust worthy unless someone can say they've done it and haven't had any problems. Any takers?

Oh and what are people talking about when they say they're "trussing" the rear end or whatever?

I've Welded my spiders on a blazer I had...DONT DO IT...lol.
Try looking for an "Aussie Locker" or a "Trac Loc" or even a "Spartan Locker" they all work great and are not too expensive...Tj

Trussing an axle beef's it up so you don't bend the housing. Here's a link to a front truss

for cheap and reliability, go with the richmond lock-rite. for 300 bux, it's the best lunchbox you can go with.
i have these in both front and rear. and best thing is, you can install it without any mechanical experience, really. and do it in an afternoon.

however, front ring gear needs to be removed for installation, but still quite easy.

btw, they unlock while coasting around corners, so your tires don't wear out. but lock up when you get on the skinny.

So they lock on straight aways and unlock on turns? What about off road? They stay locked?

When he said they lock when you get on the "skinny" he's referring to the gas pedal. Search for Aussie, Lock Rite, or Spartan. Seem to be the best of the lunch-box lockers available.

Polar already addressed the truss question. Check out that link.
