Question about charging
I have a 1999 XJ Sprot. Over the past few days, I get the check warning light and I see that my charging system is pegged at 19 VDC. Typically, it drops beck to normal within a few minutes, but today, I had to pull over,, shut off the engine, and restart. Th alternator is rather new, but I don't think the alternator has an internal regulator. Where should I begin looking. Is there something in the PCM/ ECU that I need to look at?

I had this exact problem. New terminals and battery wires fixed mine. My terminals were clean looking but the older they are, the less likely they are going to make good connection. I’d start with terminals and cleaning all your ground points. If your cables look crappy at all, a couple folks on the board here sel kits for pretty cheap.
