Post Question

I noticed alot of people have the endcaps of their bumper taken off. Is there a reason for this? Please explain.

if you look at the front fenders they are cut for clearance and that is where the ends go. i don't see much good if you cut the fenders and put ends back on the tires would then just rub them.

Plain and simple: fuel.

The more mud a Jeep has on it, the more drag is created from the surrounding air, needing more fuel to achieve the same amount of work (lower MPG). To compensate for this added drag, weight must be sacrificed.
Therefore many Xj owners trim the bumpers down by removing the endcaps. This trimming not only reduces weight but equalizes the drag co-efficient by drastically streamlining the front-end.

Ever see a trail rig that was clean AND had a full-sized bumper with end caps?

I think they look better with those ugly end caps on.

tire clearance and personal preference. some like em, some don't. i would remove mine because they rubbed on the tires but dislike the look of the bumper without them so i cut them a little instead.
