Default Question

What is this? (Circle in red) It is loose (has movement up and down). Can I tighten this or do I need a new part?

Is this my tie rod?

Does it connect to the pitman arm on the steering box shaft? If so, its the drag link or center link and the tie rod connects to it.

turns out i tightened the tie rod that connects to/near the hub (inner wheel), the one that connects the center link to the actual tie rod, and then the one connecting to the pitman arm. Also tightened where the stabilizer connects to the center link, and its still loose, gonna try and grease them if that doesnt help im not sure what to do

The whole drag link bar moves up and down about 3/4 of an inch maybe more. From the drag link all the way to the pitman arm. (The whole bar)

No need to replaced the entire link but search "ZJ tie rod" if you feel like upgrading.

These are the bushing (#9.131.3G, ignore the pic on their site) that you needed.

t's like a $20 part at auto zone and you can do it yourself. just remeber to count the # of time you trun to unthread so you can rethread backinto same position. then its alignement time but that will get you there without wearing your tires out in 100 miles.

That nut should be torqued to 35 ft-lbs.

So do you literally have that much play, or are you just noticing that it rotates?

No it has too much play. I hear it clunking like once every 2 or 3 seconds when driving there's no way it's supposed to have this much play
