Quadra-Trac run in 2WD???
Aloha. Quick random pondering... I just bought a '95 ZJ and it has Quadra-Trac (All Time 4WD) on it. I don't really care for it running full-time 4WD at all. It's rather noisey on the front end and I am not sure if it's normal for Quadra-Trac or if it's a problem in a hub or CV-shaft. Other than the constant heavy rrrr-rrrr-rrrr-rrrr noise it seems to run smoothly.
My question is...Since I don't plan to use 4WD in the near future and have several very long road trips scheduled would it be possible to run it as a 2WD by A) Removing the CV-shafts, and B) Removing the driveshaft going from the transfer case up to the front differential? I have dummy splines off of a 2WD XJ. Would this work? Or is there more to this system I am unaware of? And if it can work would anything be damaged by running it this way?
This would only be temporary for the summer and some very long (300-500 mile one-way) road trips. Plus it would help me confirm if it is a CV-shaft or something making the noises I am hearing.

Nope. It will send all the power to the "missing" driveline parts and destroy itself.
