Default Putting a 96 4.0 out of Cherokee in a 2000 4.0 equipped cherokee

Ok here is the dilema. I have a 2000 Cherokee with a bad motor and I also have a 96 Cherokee with a good motor. What is needed to swap these motors and make it run? Any help would be much apriciatted.

its the same block casting a long block is a long block. The only thing that may be different is distributer . so use the one out of your newer model and put it in the old model long block if there is any noticable differences.

I didn't think that would be different I was more leaning to maybe the intake, fuel rail, throttle body, etc area. Any sensors/plugs different? That kindd of stuff? The vehicle is not ere yet so I haven't looked over any plugs yet. I would think something like that would be different.

2000 went distrubutorless and has coil packs instead of plug wires.
Head on 2000(most were the crappy 0331 casting) has boss mounts for the coil pack retainer rail, your 96 wont. Exhaust manifold is 2 piece design on 2000, but not sure that will make a difference for your swap.

Just from memory with my older XJs, fuel rail, throttle body, cables didn't change on the top of the motor.

If you swap everything over from your 96 it would probably be good to go.

Swap everything over from my 96, meaning what exactly? I just need to know if this will work. Computer different? I can put the coil pack on the 96 motor without the distributor? I just need a straight shot answer on what to do if it's even possible to do.
