Well it would def cool the eng compartment better. I don't have any fab skills, but I was also thinking maybe take a little bondo and build that 1/4" gap up.

what about the supports that are under the hood wouldn't you have to cut them and thus compromise the stuctural integrity of the hood? However if it can be done I think that it would end up looking okay.

I like the of putting one over your after market CAI. I wonder if youd notice a difference. If you got the right vent/scoop/cowl whatever it might look pretty bad *** as well

Me too but I'm worried about rain but I was thinking about putting some kind of bafold to restrict water but still allow better airflow.

I hope that make sense, I'm not very good with words but my mommy likes my drawings.

Another thing you can do to deter small amounts of water from entering you intake is by using a bypass valve. I had one on my bimmer and it saved my engine once. It's a very simple concept and is great. Just a thought.

Schmoozer that is a good idea. However, look at the area you are working with under the hood. Your baffle may need to be curved and be ontop of the filter with the vent directly above it. The baffle would need to be spaced away from the filter though, so it doesn't cause any more restriction than necessary.

That thing looks cool but costs more than my whole CAI setup x2!

Well I'm sure it adds strength to the hood, but its not like its bearing any sort of load. Maybe if you sit on your hood...
